1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They allow a site to remember your actions and preferences (such as login state or items in a shopping cart) between visits or page loads. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels — operate the same way and are covered by this policy.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the website to function. They cannot be turned off without breaking core features.
- PHPSESSID — server-side session identifier (login state, CSRF token).
- gm_cart_v1 (local storage) — your cart contents between visits.
- gm_csrf — protects against cross-site request forgery on forms.
2.2 Functional
Enable enhanced features and personalisation.
- gm_currency — your preferred display currency.
- gm_locale — preferred language, if other than browser default.
2.3 Analytics (consent-based)
Used to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These run only after you accept analytics cookies in the consent banner.
- Privacy-friendly traffic analytics (aggregated, no individual tracking).
2.4 Marketing
We do not currently use third-party advertising or remarketing cookies. If that ever changes, you'll see the change here at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you'll be asked for consent.
3. How to Control Cookies
You can manage cookies in three ways:
- The cookie banner: shown to first-time visitors. You can accept all, reject non-essential, or customise your choices. You can re-open the banner from the footer at any time.
- Browser settings: most browsers let you delete existing cookies and block new ones. Check your browser's help section for instructions.
- Per-cookie opt-out: for analytics, you can opt out without deleting cookies by setting a "do not track" preference.
4. Third Parties
A small number of cookies may be set by third-party services we use (e.g. payment processors during the checkout step, anti-fraud screening). These are limited to what's necessary to provide the service and are never used for marketing.
5. Retention
- Session cookies — deleted when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies — typically 30 days to 12 months, depending on purpose.
6. Changes
This Cookie Policy is reviewed at least annually. We will notify you of material changes via the cookie banner or a homepage notice.
